Blog Post #one

The beginning…

It all began with an idea. An idea to launch a business. It wasn’t a hobby or something more. It is definitely a creative project to share with the world and the way I tell my story online can make a difference.

There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but my story is what’s going to separate this from the rest.

I will do my best to be clear and confident and to not overthink it. The beauty of my story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and this site will evolve with it. The goal is to make it feel right for right now and in to the future.

So welcome!

I have always liked cleaning. There is something about taking an object or space that is dirty and in a state of confusion and sorting this out so it is clean and orderly again. It is also the surprise and enjoyment from the customer too at the result. It is overall very pleasing!

Working in this industry has, at times, come about from necessity but most employment I have been in, cleaning has been a fundamental aspect of the work. Whether it was cooking in cafes and restaurants and the need to keep the work areas clean; cleaning at the butchers I worked at (my first job) using different chemicals and different methods - the steel brush on the butchers blocks was a real work out, then there’s raking through the sawdust on the floor and sifting out the bits of meat that had fallen off. The “pinnacle” was the 5 star facilities that needed regular cleaning and to be as perfect as possible - this is where I learned to be fast and accurate as there were penalties for it not being perfect in the time allotted! This was the cleaning of toilets, public spaces, windows, external areas and we also had to maintain a spotless uniform and impeccable work spaces whilst cleaning and making a mess to do so!! At the end of it all, all that was left was a clean space that looked like no one had been there - perfect 👌🏼👌🏼
Then there’s washing cars as an apprentice panel beater, to cleaning mine and other’s homes etc. so, as you can see, cleaning has been with me for what could be considered to be forever!

This interest definitely comes from my mother’s skill in this as she could take most things that were dirty and filth ridden and with some sort alchemy (so it seemed) make them sparkle or shine or radiate cleanliness - it was magical to be honest! And the “old fashioned” methods that still stand up to the modern attempts to make thing easier. The older methods seem to involve less chemicals and more reliance on a bit of elbow grease, whereas todays dazzling array of cleaning products that line the aisles of supermarkets (does one really need a separate cleaner for the bathroom, toilet, shower, kitchen sink, benches etc? Do realise that just one of those products will clean all the areas just mentioned very well) in later blogs I will delve into the make up of modern cleaning chemicals and give data on how to make your own that are far more effective than anything in the supermarket, cheaper and longer lasting.

So for now, I will bid you farewell and say thank you for stopping by to read this: my first blog. By all means leave comments on what you’d like to read about or maybe it’s TLDR?
